Dave Schultz Earns PHWA Living Legend Award

On January 21, 2026, Dave “the Hammer” Schultz accepted the Living Legend Award presented by the Philadelphia Sports Writers’ Association at their annual awards banquet in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Numerous Alumni attended to honor Dave, who is also a member of the Flyers Hall of Fame.

Additionally, the PHWA honored longtime Flyers vice president and director of promotions and advertising Lou Scheinfeld. An original Flyers employee from the time of the organization’s foundation in 1967, Lou’s most famous legacy was as the man who started the God Bless America tradition at the Spectrum with legendary singer Kate Smith becoming the Flyers’ good luck charm.
