André Dupont NHL profile

Dupont took the safety and protection of his teammates very seriously, and showed equal courage on the road as he did at home. He topped 200 penalty minutes in four different seasons. Dupont also played in the 1975-76 NHL All-Star Game. He was known, too, for his signature goal celebration, called “the Moose Shuffle”.

André Dupont was born July 27th, 1949 and was drafted in the first round of NHL Draft of 1949 by the New York Rangers. 57th all time in penalty minutes, 3rd in Flyers history, Dupont was always one to make sure that opposing teams were aware of his presence. Not just an enforcer, Dupont scored a massive goal in game 2 of the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals that tied the game with 52 seconds left. The Flyers would go on to win in overtime.

Dupont spent one season with the New York Rangers before being traded to the St. Louis Blues for two seasons. He then spent eight seasons with the Flyers, where he won two Stanley Cup Championships. He would finish his career with the Quebec Nordiques.
